Recreation in Delhi

National Zoological Park in DelhiDelhi is a place to be when it comes of recreation. Being a happy-go-lucky city, people are always on the lookout for an excuse for fun and recreation. There are many things, which can be done, starting from visiting Appu Ghar and Fun n Food Village to learning a thing or two at Zoo and National Science center.

Appu Ghar
Take an Auto and move towards Pragati Maidan and right there at gate no. 4 is Appu Ghar. Spread over 15.5 acres of land, and opened from 10 A.M. to P.M, it houses 22 immensely popular rides in its premises, along with a recently opened Water Park - OYSTERS. Spread over 3.5 acres of land, apart from the rides, Appu Ghar has fast food centers that serve all kinds of Indian food and a variety of shops selling gift items and wares. This was conceived on the lines of Disneyland in U.S. Swings are very popular here, major being Columbus swing, Tora-Tora, Roller Coaster, the Big Splash, Dodgem Cars, the Eerie Tunnel. The other thing that is immensely popular among locals and tourists is The Ice rink. You can enjoy many ice games such as ice-skating and Ice hockey here. The couples love to dance and romance in the Rain Dance or the Ice Dance that are introduced according to the season. This water park is especially preferred by people to beat off the scorching heat of the summers.

Fun n Food Village
The amusement park for people of all ages including a water park and joy rides, Fun 'N' Food Village is situated near Gurgaon. The serene and tranquil atmosphere of the place attracts a lot of tourists. The lush greenery and panoramic views that it offers, makes it not only the best retreat in Delhi but also one of the best in India. The rides are suitable for different age groups and that is why people of nearly all the age group can be seen flocking towards the destination. Special attraction is the wave pool, which is the largest wave pool in all the water parks around Delhi. The Fun n Food village is opened from 10 in the morning till 8 in the evening. The water park also boasts of the largest indoor Snow Park over an area of 2500 sq. m. The park offers 21 amusement rides, 22 water slides, rain dance, kids water play area and much more.

National Science Center
Designed specially for kids, the National Science Center Museum has a large collection of working science models to educate children about the scientific facts. These complex scientific theories have been demonstrated through working models, which make it easier for the children to grasp. A trip to this museum can be both an educational and recreational trip at once. So if you want to brush up your sciences then this place is the must visit. The National Science Canter in Delhi, opened from 10 to 5 in evening, is one of the largest science centers among the chain of science centers developed all over the country with an aim to make science interesting and exciting for students and adults.

National Zoological Park (Zoo)
The Delhi Zoo, close to Purana Qila, was set up in 1959 and is spread over an area of 214 acres. It is regarded as one of the finest zoos in Asia and efforts have been made to provide an almost natural habitat to the animals and the birds. There are more than 2,000 animals and bird species from Africa, America and Australia and Asia. There is lots of greenery around it and is a good spot for picnics. It is closed on Friday and during summers it is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. while the winter timings are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It has an early 17th century Kos Minar, which was one of the many, put up by Jehangir, son of the emperor, Akbar.
