The Akshardham Mandir is situated in The Akshardham Temple Complex in East Delhi. If you want to explore the modern Naqqashi traditions, then this is a place to be. The main structure has been embroidered with 20, 000 statues, floral motifs, arches and exquisitely carved pillars. The Swaminarayan sect of Hinduism, which is very popular in Gujarat, has constructed the Akshardham temple. It is estimated that, the temple has been built at the cost of nearly 100 million Dollars.

The Akshardham temple is spread in the area of nearly 100 acres on the banks of river Yamuna. The whole campus is adorned with beautiful grass carpet and lush green shrubs. Water bodies and colored fountains further bisect these sprawling lawns. The whole layout is modern in outlook and look extremely original.

Among others, the complex boasts off an IMAX theatre, a food court, a gallery and an open-air theatre. In the night, the magnificent campus is lit with tungsten bulbs and looks stunning. The main structure at the Akshardham temple is built of yellow sandstone like all other buildings on the campus and took nearly 2 years to construct. It is about 141-foot high and houses an 11 feet massive statue of Lord Swaminarayan.
