Delhi University, popularly called DU, is one of the premium institutions in New Delhi, the capital of India. Delhi University was established in the year 1921 but many of the colleges in the campus are older than the university itself. It has more than 80 colleges affiliated to it with nearly 80,000 students on its regular rolls.
The Delhi University offers courses at both Graduate and Post-Graduate
levels. There are range of courses offered in Sciences, Commerce and
Humanities stream. These courses are updated regularly and are in
compliance with the international standards. International students are
welcomed Delhi University and there is a special department that takes
care of the needs of International students. There are students in the
University campus from more than 50 countries. There is scholarship
facility for students from poor sub-Sahara and Asian countries. There is
a good accommodation facility on the campus for these students.
It has two campuses in its ambit namely North and South campus. They
are at Civil Lines and Satya Niketan areas respectively. Apart from that
many of the colleges are scattered all over the Delhi. Some of the
popular colleges affiliated to the Delhi University are St. Stephens,
Hindu, Ramjas, Hansraj, Sri Ram College of Commerce, Lady Sri Ram, Jesus
And Mary and Miranda House.
University is also known for its co-curricular activities. There
are regular sport meets and inter-college competitions. Then, you have
regular debate and elocution competitions. The month of October and
November is reserved for various college festivals.
